Shame on you doctors for bringing disrepute to the medical profession by going on strike like labour unions (Junior docs boycott emergency ops, Feb. 11). Strikes are an absolute no no in the medical profession. Ours is a greater calling. To deny medical services to the people for salary hikes is despicable. You must hire a good lawyer or appeal to your elected representative. I hope good sense will prevail and you will return to work.

The strike by junior doctors is seriously affecting the poor who depend on government hospitals (Junior docs boycott emergency ops, Feb. 11). Already the government is drawing flak for ignoring the health sector. The government instead of improving hospitals is wasting money on populistic schemes. ESMA is no solution. The government must end the recurring strikes by junior doctors by enhancing their salaries.

I think the killing of a teacher by a Class IX student in Chennai is a direct outcome of the glorification of violence in the movies (Boy stabs Hindi teacher to death, Feb. 10). It is high time film producers realised the harm they are doing to society.

Prayers for Yuvi
It is indeed a misfortune that Yuvraj has a malignant tumour (Chemo takes a toll on Yuvi, Feb. 11). The news that he can be completely cured comes as a big relief. I remember one of his advertisements. It was an insurance advertisement in which Yuvraj said that once form drops there's nothing to look forward to. I hope that Yuvraj comes out fit.
