The article Lessons in parenting (November 21), by Thomas L. Friedman is absolutely relevant. Parents have an important role in shaping their kids’ future. Most parents these days think that their responsibility is over once they admit kids to an institution and pay the fees. Parents must review the progress of their wards periodically. Many parents may not find this easy but awareness programmes can help them realise the important role they have in the education of their children.

SUKHRAM’S CASE
The Sukhram case finally saw the light of the day after 15 years (Sukhram convicted in telecom scam, November 19). Today the money involved in telecom scams is put at `1.76 lakh crores. Is it possible that the 2G scam could have been avoided if Sukhram was prosecuted and punished in time? We will never know that. But let the judiciary and the Legislative Councils take note of it.

CHEATING IS ENDEMIC
Cheating is indeed an ever present reality in India (Cheating, a way of life, November 15). In Bengaluru mango hawkers have one type of mango on display, and another for the actual sale. In hotels spoiled food is served, and if customers object it is replaced. In autorickshaws, meters are adjusted to show higher fares. There is a need for a change in mindset. All service providers should check if they are giving enough for the money they collect.

I WANT DC ON MOBILE
I have been reading Deccan Chronicle since my childhood and I still enjoy reading it. I was delighted to read that DC is now also on iPad. However, I request that you start a mobile edition as I live in a place where it is not easy get an English newspaper and the Internet connection is slow. A mobile ePaper that will load faster, a lite version for instance, will be very helpful.
