Hyderabad customs seizes 71 kg gold in 2015

Officials from National Academy of Customs Excise and Narcotics have celebrated Customs Day at Dr MCHRDI.

Hyderabad: Chief Commissioner of customs and central excise Ms. R Shakuntala on Wednesday said that the Hyderabad zone customs officials have managed to seize as much as 71 kilograms of gold in 118 cases in 2015.

This, she added was much more than their target. Speaking at Customs Day celebrations at Shamshabad, she said that the Hyderabad zone has become paperless administration by achieving 90 per cent goal under Digital India programme.

She said, “Although gold smugglers are a foot ahead to customs’ officials and adopting various practices in smuggling of gold, our teams are efficiently identifying culprits and seizing gold. We have to improve our surveillance to curb gold smuggling completely.”

Chief Information Commissioner Madabhushi Sridhar, GMR CEO Mr. SGK Kishore and others took part in the programme.

Meanwhile, officials from National Academy of Customs Excise and Narcotics (NACEN) have celebrated Customs Day at Dr MCHRDI.

Principal ADG P Nageswara Rao and others took part in the programme.
