Centre gives Rs 791 crore for drought-hit Telangana

Mr Radha Mohan Singh said that this was the biggest financial assistance sanctioned by the Centre.

Hyderabad: The Centre has announced Rs 791 crore in financial assistance to the drought-hit Telangana state for taking up relief and related works.

A high-level committee, chaired by Union home minister Rajnath Singh, and attended by finance minister Arun Jaitley and agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh on Thursday approved the assistance against the requisition of Rs 2,514 crore by the TS government.

Mr Radha Mohan Singh said that this was the biggest financial assistance sanctioned by the Centre, bigger than the drought assistance released to united AP.
