HC gives breather to Soundarya

Dec. 7: The Madras high court on Monday granted time till December 21, to M/s Ocher Studios private limited, run by superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter Ms Soundarya Rajinikanth, to furnish bank guarantee to the tune of Rs 1.60 crore as security for the release of the Tamil film ‘Goa’, starring popular film star Sneha.
In his interim order, Justice G. Rajasurya said, “M/s Ocher studios submitted that it was ready to furnish bank guarantee as security for the promissory note of Rs 1.10 crore and Rs 50 lakh, without prejudice to the contention to contest all the issues in the case by Dec 21. If no security is furnished then the order already passed shall hold good, otherwise the order shall stand automatically vacated”, the judge made it clear. The judge had on December 1 restrained M/s Ocher studios from releasing the film Goa basded on two suits filed by Varun Manian in his personal capacity and in the capacity of managing director of M/s NAPC properties, seeking a direction to deposit Rs 1.36 crore and Rs 73.14 lakh towards the amount borrowed from him. G Kartik, the Chief Marketing Officer, Ocher Studios filed a counter affidavit.
