Feb. 8: Two drunken men allegedly misbehaved with daughters of a watchman of a farmhouse in Kanathur near Neelankarai. The men had been using the bungalow for a get together on Sunday night and the incident spilled over into a huge group clash after which several arrests were made.
Following the incident of misbehaviour, fishermen from the neighbouring village, roughed up the people, including a few lawyers, who were partying in the house. The incident later became a group clash. In the melee, fishermen damaged at least four cars, including one bearing a DMK flag.
According to the police, the party at the Kanathur bungalow, organised by a man from T Nagar, started as early as 5 pm on Sunday.
“By 7.30 pm, two men went out on a bike to buy more alcohol. While returning, they spotted two women walking on the road and the duo teased the women and misbehaved with them. The women walked into the same bungalow where the men were partying. Noticing the two walking into the outhouse, the men followed them and tried to misbehave with them inside the room,” sources said. The watchman tried telling the intoxicated men that they were his daughters. When the two refused to listen, the watchman alerted the villagers who came in a big group.
