Chennai: History buffs are in for a treat with former fo-reign secretary Muchkund Dubey all set to pen the history of post-independent In-dia in seven volumes. Mr Dubey, who witnessed the emergence of India as a so-vereign republic and was a part of the licence-permit raj which gave away to liberalisation and globalisation by 1990s, will also highlight the country’s contribution to the evolution of the world order.

“This is the first of its kind venture in Indian publishing. The series will have many hitherto unknown and unpublished incidents whi-ch shaped the country’s foreign and domestic polici-es,” K.P.R. Nair, director, Pearson India who publishes the series, told this newspaper. “I seek to bring tog-ether my reflections and in-sights as a participant in po-licy making and international negotiations for evolving a democratic and equitable world order,” Mr Dubey said in a release.
