Chennai,Dec. 19: Tamil Nadu will to reel under power cuts till mid-2011. The two-hour power cuts in the state, barring Chennai and its suburbs, will continue to till mid-2011, according to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) chairman C.P.Singh.
Addressing a group of industrial and domestic consumers at an interactive session organised by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Consumers Association (TECA), here on Thursday, he said, “We hope to lift the two-hour load shedding in the districts by mid-2011.” Stating that the per captia power consumption in the state is 1040 units, he said, the increase in demand and the slip in estimating the increase has led to this situation.
“We are trying to make an assessment of demand growth for the next six years,” he said.
Answering queries from the consumers on the present generation and the future plans, he said, the electricity shortage is about 20 per cent.
