SMS (Shiva Manasulo Shruthi) review: Confused & confusing
The rich-girl-meets-poor-boy love story begins with the two meeting in a train: while he claims to be a military officer, girl says she is an airhostess.
Reality bites in second rendezvous: she is an RJ, and he a courier boy. If you thought you have seen the scenes and heard the lines, there’s more: the initial fights later, the two begin to meet more often and get familiar but are eventually unable to strike a chord. Reason: their inflated egos.
Now, without giving away the plot, enough is to say that the much-hyped debut of Sudhir Babu, brother-in-law of Mahesh Babu, has nothing much to crow about, barring some crisp one-liners and a few fun moments. He impresses with his dance moves and action skills but needs to work on diction.
Although a remake of Tamil hit SMS, the film’s contrived plot could hamper its box office prospects.
In fact, Sudhir’s dialogue in the climax — “Although I don’t deserve to propose to you but I do miss you” — sums up not just his approach towards his beloved (Regina) but even that of the film: Confused & Confusing.
Comedians Chanti and Vennela Kishore come as welcome relief. Debutante Regina impresses as the spirited RJ.
