She may scare us onscreen with her vampire looks, but Avanthikka, the 21-year-old diva hopes to win the hearts of the Malayali audience after the release of her debut film Yakshi Yours Faithfully.
The model-turned actor is happy to play the role of a vampire. She says, “I always wanted to play a different role and I was lucky to get such an opportunity in my debut film. I hope the viewers like me as well.”
Commenting about the vampire role she plays in the movie, Avanthikka says, “It is not the usual white sari vampire that we see in the movies, my role is of a ‘naga yakshi’, a tough role indeed!”
She recalls a scene in the movie where she was completely immersed in muddy water for a long time, which was very difficult.
Avanthikka can’t stop gushing about her experiences. “I felt a bit low on the last day of the sets, but I want to thank my director Abhiram Suresh Unnithan and the entire crew for being very humble and supportive throughout,” she says.
The final year B.Com student does not plan to quit her studies for movies. “After completing my final year I want to pursue a course in human resources. I want to keep my studies and movies going hand in hand,” says this young beauty.
Avanthikka studied in Dubai and is currently settled in Kozhikode along with her family. “Malayalam initially was a problem for me, but I am picking up with the language now and learnt the dialogues for the movie by heart,” she adds.
Avanthikka says she is indebted to choreographer Daalu who always thought that she had the calibre to be a model. “I love watching movies and always wanted to be associated with the world of glitz and glamour. Coming down to Kerala has helped me a lot,” said the upcoming actor.
The young lady was crowned Miss Malabar 2011 and also appeared in several commercial advertisements.
It was after her photo shoots for a leading Malayalam magazine that she was approached by the director for a role in Yakshi Yours Faithfully.
Avanthikka also plans to step into the Kollywood industry and has signed two movies in Tamil as well as Malayalam.
