Flushed with the success of his recent offering 7 Aum Arivu, Suriya met the media to share his jubilant mood and answered all their queries in his own inimitable style.

The actor started his interaction on a positive note. “7 Aum Arivu garnered a tremendous response and has taken me to the next level in my career. I want to thank the media for supporting me in my growth as well as for pointing out my flaws, which helped me to do better in each film.”

He agreed that the movie had received a mixed response from the critics, but added that all concerned with its business aspect, were happy. “Any new approach will have its plus and minus points and 7 Aum Arivu is no exception.

I have heard when 16 Vayadhinile was released, Kamal sir’s look (uncouth) didn’t go down well with the audience and a lot of people initially used to walk out of the theatres during the interval. Later, it turned out to be a trendsetting film in Tamil cinema! So on the whole people are happy that we have given good content,” he said.

He also revealed that Singham had been his biggest commercial success, but now 7 Aum… had surpassed it and created a new record.

Reacting to a query about whether he knew that Shruti’s character would hog the limelight: “See, I have done two roles in the film! It is not that I have to prove my heroism with each film. I knew that Shruti’s character drives the story even before I started the project. I liked the story, so I did it.”

When asked if Shruti’s performance was up to the mark, given the fact that hers was a meaty role, he was quick to respond: “I think she has performed like a debutante! That way, if you ask me, I should have walked out of films 13 years ago when I began. Shruti has a long way to go.”

Suriya looked visibly excited as he shared the two legendary actors’ remarks after watching the movie. “Rajini sir said, ‘You are fantastic. I could see the kind of hard work you have put in’. Kamal sir was heard saying, ‘This boy is in full form’ during the interval.”

Asked if he had watched Vijay’s Velayudham, he said, “I am yet to see the film. But Jo had arranged tickets for Vijay’s wife Sangeetha and her friends for 7 Aum Arivu and she said it was good.”

Time for Shruthi Haasan to pack her bags and find a different career. Terrible acting and an onscreen persona that made me yawn.
