Veteran actor Anupam Kher's father Pushkarnath Kher passed away this morning. He was 84.
Anupam revealed the news on his Twitter page, writing, "As I landed in Goa my brother Raju called from Mumbai that the 'Best Dad in the World' ( our father ) is No More. Traveling back."
The 56-year-old actor was reportedly on his way to director David Dhawan's son's wedding in Goa. Soon after learning of the news, many from the film fraternity sent across their condolences.
Amitabh Bachchan tweeted saying,"And just now more distressing news on the passing away of Anupam Kher's Father .. sad and so tragic when you lose near and dear .."
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted, "Please accept my deep condolences in this moment of grief, I pray to GOD to give you strength and bless the departed soul."
"I'm so sorry Anupam uncle.. Lots and lots of love and prayers," tweeted actress Sonam Kapoor.
Actor Siddharth, who played Anupam's son in Rang De Basanti, tweeted, "I'm so sorry for your loss sir... prayers..."
Later, Anupam Kher tweeted, "Thank You ALL for your heartfelt messages about my father.He was my best friend also. His last words to me this morning."LIVE LIFE."
He also wrote on Saturday," Just realised today is the first day of my life without my father. And this is how it is going to be now. Thanks for your love & messages."
