American troops can now move around in the warzone without carrying heavy-weight gear after a new military robot debuted.
The mule-like machine, called the LS3 (Legged Squad Support System) can carry more than 400 pounds of supplies and can trek even the toughest of terrains without refuelling for up to 24 hours.
The robot is equipped with sensors that allow it to auto-correct balance.
The four-legged vehicle is being developed by the US government's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). DARPA are now focusing on teaching the 'animal' to understand spoken commands like 'stop', 'sit', and 'come here'. The creators hope to deploy the robot in the field with the US Marines within two years.
The LS3 robot also doubles up as a mobile charging station for troops to recharge batteries for radios, tablets or laptops.
