After weeks of trying to wangle a meeting, former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa finally met party state president Nitin Gadkari on Friday with party sources saying that Gadkari told BSY that 'they could not think of a BJP without him' and advised him not to be hasty while also saying that a top party post would have to wait.
The 45-minute meeting at Gadkari's Delhi home is said to have been initiated by the party chief, worried over BSY and his supporters creating a parallel power centre in Karnataka, sources said.
The party top brass feel the state BJP leadership and D.V. Sadananda Gowda government's image has taken a beating. Sources however maintained that he had not been summoned to Delhi.
“We booked air tickets to Delhi three days ago. He wants to meet his lawyers in Delhi. When the central leadership heard, they asked him to come and meet them”, said a loyalist.
Yeddyurappa and son B.Y. Vijayendra reportedly met with lawyers Uday U. Lalith and Ram Jethmalani. What is worrying BSY is the possibility of the Lokayukta court issuing summons to him in the first private complaint filed by Sirajin Basha and K.N. Balaraj.
He also reportedly discussed the petition filed in the Karnataka HC challenging the Governor’s order sanctioning his prosecution.
