While Israel was quick to blame Iran and the Hezbollah terrorist outfit for Monday’s car bombing, India has adopted a more cautious approach, refraining from naming any country or outfit.
Home secretary R.K. Singh said, “We have no evidence yet to name any country. It’s premature to name anyone as there is no material evidence yet. We don’t have any idea who planted the bomb. The perpetrators behind the attack will be known only after the probe is completed.”
However, speaking to a news channel Israeli ambassador to India Alon Usphiz once again reiterated that the attack was planned in Tehran.
Mr Chidambaram said special teams have been deployed to locate the motorcycle and identify the assailant. “At the moment, I am not pointing a finger at any particular group or any particular organisation but whoever did it, we condemn it in the strongest terms,” he added.
External affairs minister S.M. Krishna said that the attack on an Israeli diplomat on Monday did not indicate that India has failed. He said, “By a single incident, we cannot generalise and say India has failed. Incidents of this kind can happen in any part of the world.”
