At 72, S. Prakash, a retired engineer, is enjoying life exploring the world.
Life at old age is fun and easy, only if it’s well-planned. I have been planning every step in my life from the beginning. And it’s no wonder, I am reaping the results till date. I was an engineer with an MNC and spent nearly 16-18 hours at my workplace. I devoted all my time to my career and compromised on things that I have always wanted to do. However, I invested wisely when I was young and now after retirement, I’m not bothered about my expenses and I am not dependent on my children. Getting old is like restarting your life again. My old age has bestowed on me enough time to follow my passion. Now, I practise yoga and meditation which keeps me physically and mentally active. I love gardening and spend hours with my gardener, who helps maintain my vegetable garden. I love travelling and have planned holidays to all the places, where I always wanted to go. Visas are easy to secure for senior citizens. I have been to Ireland and Moscow with my wife. Now, I’m planning a holiday to USA soon. Although, I have explored nearly all the places in India, I’m yet to see some hill stations. I like travelling with my wife. It’s like celebrating our years of married life and going on a honeymoon once again.
