Consuming chocolate is not the wisest option if you want to burn calories, but applying it on the skin in sinful proportions can work wonders if you are on a weight watch! Not to forget, the tantalising aroma can have a therapeutic effect too. Here’s how you can indulge in the magic of cocoa, guilt free.

Chocolate, which contains theobromine, in generous quantities, has a slimming effect on the body. Spa therapist Vinod Bhasin says, “Theobromine is very similar to caffeine and when applied on the body, diminishes cellulite and helps burn fat.” Apart from slimming benefits, chocolate can also do a great deal for your skin. “Since chocolate contains polyphenols, known for their anti-oxidant properties, it can act as a great anti-aging solution. Minerals like magnesium, potassium and calcium in chocolate moisturise and firm the skin and also boost the process of cell renewal and growth,” adds Vinod.

The aroma of chocolate is believed to stimulate one’s mind and lift the spirits of a person. “Most people love chocolate and, therefore, the aroma is something that instantly makes you feel comfortable. Scientifically too, it is known to trigger the discharge of certain chemicals that have anti-depressant effects on the body and mind,” says Vinod.
