Menu cards dropped on foodcourt tables come prefixed with names of nations far and wide. Pakistani Biryani, Singapore Noodles, Malaysian Rice and Sri Lankan Gravy are on top as these have managed to find a spot among the twisting tastes of tired techies at the Thiruvananthapuram Technopark.
“The Singapore prawn noodles that ‘Chopsticks’ serves is one of my favorites among these foreign mixes,” says Renu Nair, a content writer at Technopark. Sini Nair, another techie, however, feels that these tend to reach out more to the non-Malayalee crowd of the IT park.
“I like Thai rice with chicken in peanut sauce on a rare day, but usually I pick Indian food.” ‘Steak Out’, a recently launched joint run by Saiba Salam and Anashwar V.S., however won over the techie tastebuds with its spicy Pakistani Biriyani.
“It is more spicy, reddish in color and has potatoes. Also, the coriander flavour mixed with chicken gives a different taste that seems to appeal to our customers,” says Saiba.
Chicken Kabsa, a non-spicy Arabic dish and Shahi chicken biriyani are other moving dishes. Saiba says her years in Dubai have helped her learn these recipes and innovate with an Indian mix.
