A $32 million Ferrari

A $32 million Ferrari

A 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO, has taken its place as the second most expensive car in the world. This vintage was auctioned for $32.1 million. Between 1962 till 1964, Ferrari rolled out only 39 of these cars that have since then commanded record prices from vintage car collectors, and all this despite the recent upheavals in the economy. This particular car has taken its place among the most expensive auctioned cars in Britain, and is now on its way to Spain to be part of the new owner’s collection.

But like most high profile purchases, this transaction too is quite a secret as of now. Word has it, that Mr Jon Hunt, the head honcho of Foxtons Estate Agency sold the Ferrari 250 GTO, but that’s unconfirmed, or very secret. But the multi-million dollar purchase indicates another trend in luxurious investments; classic Ferraris are increasingly been pitted as fool-proof investments, which can guarantee a sizeable return on the initial price. The main factors attributed to this trend are the Ferrari brand name, the elaborate racing history, the vehicle’s technical prowess, and of course, the increasing rarity of a sample which still runs!
