My hair has become brittle and dry after I streaked it. I oil it regularly and condition it, but it continues to remain frizzy.

Chemically treated hair does tend to get drier and you do have to take proper care of your hair. Use a shampoo and conditioner meant for colour protection, as it will protect your hair from the UV rays. Make it a point to condition your hair at every wash. Using conditioner will smooth down the outer layer of the hair (cuticle) and will help you detangle your hair and make it easier to comb. During chemical or heat treatment this layer gets lifted off. When you condition your hair, leave the conditioner for at least 15-20 mins (not just five mins). After wash, do use an anti- frizz serum. Do not use any more heat treatments on already treated hair. You can try this home remedy too: add one tsp of honey to two tbsp of olive oil and beat one egg yolk in it. Massage this on hair in small sections. Cover the head with shower cap for ½ an hour. Rinse and shampoo your hair. You can mask the smell of ‘eggs’ in your hair by rubbing in some lemon juice after your shampoo.

I am a 30-year-old man with thick black hair except for a small patch of grey at the back of my head. I have had it since I was young. Should I use hairdye for the patch or are there alternatives to ensure that the grey hair gives way to black hair?

There is no specific medication, yet you may try a few home remedies.
1) Mix approximately one gm of black pepper powder to a small bowl of curds. Apply once a week and wash.
2) Boil tea leaves and hibiscus petals in water, strain it and add two teaspoons of salt, leave it on the hair for an hour and wash off with warm water.
