No role in Arun’s appointment: V.S. Achuthanandhan

Opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandhan has asserted that no decision was taken during his tenure as chief minister to appoint his son V.A. Arun Kumar as director of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Academy.

He made this clear on Tuesday before the nine-member Assembly committee headed by V.D. Satheesan inquiring into allegations involving VS and Arun Kumar.

Former education minister M.A. Baby also appeared before the Assembly panel to give his statement.
Baby told the committee that Arun was qualified enough but there was no formal decision to appoint him to the post.

The legislature secretary had earlier handed over a notice to Achuthanandan, asking him to appear before the panel.

The Assembly panel was constituted on the basis of a complaint lodged by Youth Congress president and MLA, PC. Vishnunath.

V.A. Arunkumar is the director of the ICT Academy and the Finishing School under it.

There had been allegations that Arunkumar was not qualified enough to be appointed as director.
