
Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan at 89 years and P K Chandranandan at 88 were the senior-most delegates and K Rafeeq, 24, from Wayand the youngest delegate at the 20 the state conference of the CPI(M) which concluded here on Friday.
According to a CPI(M) release, of the 556 delegates who represented 3,70,000 party members from across the state, 343 representatives had undergone rigorous imprisonment.
V S Achuthanandan and M M Lawrence spent the most number of days in jail. Lawrence spent five years and ten months, while Achuthanandan was behind the bars for five years and six months.
Party secretary Pinarayi Vijayan went to jail during the Emergency period and he spent 18 months in jail.
Out of the delegates, 53 were women.
T V Anitha from Ernakulam and Rajeena, Malappuram, were the youngest. Some 246 of them are degree holders, and 122 of them passed intermediate, higher secondary or various diploma courses.
While 457 are full-time party workers, 364 representatives became party members through student-youth movements.
