Innovation varsity in city: Minister

The Union minister of state for human resource development, Ms D. Purandeswari, said that the proposal of a Innovation University proposed to be established in Visakhapatnam is under consideration of the Central Law Board.

She also said that the Bill would be placed before Parliament for sanction soon after it is approved.

While participating in a celebration arranged at the Yeleru reservoir guest house here on Sunday in connection with completion of six years of her tenure, she expressed happiness and said that during her term, efforts had been made for improving quality education even to children in remote areas through the Right to Education Act.

The Union minister conveyed her gratitude to people, leaders and volunteers who backed her for the last six years.

Ms Purandeswari distributed cheques worth Rs.14 lakhs to land oustees of the Vijayarama Sagaram reservoir in Vepada mandal of Vizianagaram district. Mr A.V.J. Naidu of S.Kota lauded the efforts of the minister towards enhancing the anicut area from 6,000 acres to 16,000 acres and also for allocating Rs.2.20 crore from MPLADS for the reservoir.

The Visakhapatnam east MLA, Mr Dronamraju Srinivas, Vuda former chairman Mr Raviraju, former MLA Ms Allu Bhanumathi, Mr Mariadas and Vepada tahsildar Mr M, Prakasarao were present.
