A teenage girl, Kimidi Sneha Kumari, 15, was confined to her house by her parents.

On Sunday, she lodged a complaint with city police that she has been confined by her parents, including her stepmother, to a room in her house for the last six months, harassed by them and not given proper food.

Based on a complaint by the girl, Gajuwaka police registered a case under Section 344 of the IPC. According to sources, Kimidi Ganapathi Rao married a Central government employee Lakshmi Bai a few decades ago. They had a daughter Sneha. Lakshmi died due to ill health in 2007.

Sneha completed her Class X this year, staying in the hostel of a corporate school. After his first wife’s death, Rao married another woman Nivedita Rao a few years ago.

He is staying with Nivedita in Visweswarayya Colony under Gajuwaka police station limits.

After completing her school education, Sneha returned to her house a few months ago. On Sunday afternoon, she approached the police station and lodged a complaint against her parents, particularly her stepmother, that she had been harassing her for the last few months and not letting her out for further studies though she had passed Class X in distinction this year. Sources said that the parents were harassing Sneha to transfer all her properties including a house in her name to Nivedita.

When contacted, Gajuwaka police told this correspondent that they had filed the case based on the girl’s complaint and were interrogating the parents.

Assistant sub-inspector V. Sriramulu took up the case which is being investigated by circle inspector S. Appala Raju.
