July 17: The Seemandhra Congress leaders of Krishna district, minister for secondary education, Mr K. Parthasaradhi, MP, Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal, MLAs, Mr Malladi Vishnu and Mr Jogi Ramesh and PCC leader, Mr Kolanukonda Sivaji went to Delhi along with other Seemandhra Congress leaders to meet the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, and the Prime Minister, Mr Manmohan Singh, to explain the need to keep Andhra Pradesh united.
They went to Delhi in response to resignation threat given by Congress leaders of the T-region. The Seemandhra Congess leaders announced that they were ready for any sacrifices for a united Andhra Pradesh. Mr Vishnu said, “We are going to Delhi to explain our views to the party high command for the need to keep Andhra Pradesh united. We have already discussed how to express out views to the party high command at Seemandhra Congress leaders meet held in Vijayawada on Saturday.”
Meanwhile, in Guntur, city Congress SC cell leaders burnt the effigy of TRS president, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Speaking on the occasion, Mr K. Pitcheswara Rao alleged that Mr Chandrasekhar Rao was mounting pressure on the central government to divide the state for gaining political mileage. He requested the Congress leaders of the T-region not fall in the trap of KCR.
The Telugu Desam leaders of Guntur district decided to intensify their agitation to keep Andhra Pradesh united. The TD is organising Seemandhra TD leaders meet in Guntur on July 20 to chalk out their future course of action to mount pressure on central government for a united AP. The TD Guntur district president, Mr Prattipati Pulla Rao said, “We will intensify our agitation to keep Andhra Pradesh united and chalk out our future course of action in the Seemandhra leaders TD leaders meet to be held in Guntur.”
