The state road transport corporation (RTC) authorities planning to run several special services to Siva temples located in both the East and West Godavari districts on the eve of ensuing Maha Sivaratri festival.
In West Godavari, the authorities are planning to run nearly 150 special buses from all the six depots including Eluru, Bhimavaram, Tadepalli-gudem, Jangareddygudem, Narasapuram and Tanuku depots.
As more number of pilgrims are expected to gather at the Shiva temples located at Pattiseema, Bal-ive and at Spatikalingam villages, the authorities are running several special buses to these places.
The RTC authorities are running special services to Ganganamma jatara which is being organised at Eluru from several parts in the town for the last few days. They maintain that the ongoing jatara is helping them earn an additional Rs.10 lakhs revenue per day.
Normally, RTC earns nearly Rs.40 to Rs.45 lakhs revenue by carrying the passengers to different destinations in the district per day. It failed to make good earnings during Pongal vacation.
In East Godavari too, the authorities plan to run special services to several Shiva temples in the district. A detailed plan for running the special services is being chalked out by the authorities.
