Mild tension prevailed at the Congress city office for a brief period when the agitating contract lecturers tried to barge into it here on Wednesday.

It may be mentioned that several contract lecturers have been taking up a series of agitations for the last few days with a demand for regularisation of their services. As part of it, they arrived at the Congress party office and made a vain bid to enter into it. The police intervened and thwarted their move.

Later, the local MP, Mr Vundavalli Arun Kumar, and the local MLA, Mr Routhu Surya Prakasa Rao, arrived to the party office and held parleys with them.

The MP assured the agitating lectures that he would take up their issue to the notice of the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
