A large number of educated and unemployed youth are finding jobs in the recently launched the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu scheme in West Godavari.
Out of the targeted generation of 7,163 jobs under the scheme by the end of March in the current fiscal, the authorities have facilitated jobs to 5,374 youth so far. They are making efforts to generate employment for the remaining 1,789 youth and have received about 1,100 applications so far, seeking jobs.
Most youngsters are interested in learning skills related to computer-based data entry operation, hotel management, multi-media and communication skills.
Youth are getting wages from Rs.5,000 per month onwards during entry level for computer related works, while in hotel management, they are being offered lower wages.
The authorities say that a recent state-level survey to find out how many youngsters who secured jobs continue in these without dropping out, showed that West Godavari showed 67 per cent continuity, the second position in the state.
As many as five wings in the district administration including employment generation and marketing mission, mission for elimination of poverty in municipal areas, employment training and development, technical education and disability are involved in training applicants under the scheme in various vocations and conduct job melas involving managements from the private sector and help them find jobs.
The authorities have conducted training for 41 batches of unemployed youth so far in the district.
The district rural development agency project director, Mr Y. Ramakrishna said, "A good number of youth continue in the jobs provided to them under the RYK." As part of the district's share in contributing to the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's promise to generate more than one lakh jobs by December last, the authorities generated 4,274 jobs by realising 121 per cent success rate.
