Union minister of culture, housing and urban poverty alleviation Kumari Selja said here on Saturday that the prime mission of the Centre is to have a slum-free India.
Inaugurating the unique Our Universe programme at the Regional Science Centre here, Ms Selja said that all over the world, there is a growing importance to develop museums and world universities are coming up with extensive research for their upgrading from time to time.
She said that the Indian government is committed to provide the basic amenities of safe drinking water and sanitation to the slum areas.
The Centre is always ready to develop Tirupati into a vibrant city.
Later, she went round the various exhibits at the Science Centre. The Tirupati MP, Dr Chinta Mohan, also took part in the event.
