Taking their bypoll fight to the next level, both the district unit TRS and Telugu Desam (TD) come out with mandal level in-charges by roping in former and sitting MLAs and MPs to ensure better monitoring and coordination among their respective party cadres in the run up to the Station Ghanpur bypoll on March 18.
The mandals’ incharge list released includes big names like Peddi Sudershan Reddy, TRS Warangal district convenor (Zafargad), Warangal West MLA D. Vinay Bhaskar (Dharmasagar), TRS' Medak in-charge Rajaiah Yadav (Station Ghanpur), ex-MP B. Vinod Kumar (Raghunathpally) and Aler constituency in- charge Ms Sunita Mahender Reddy (Lingala Ghanpur).
The overall in-charge for the success of Dr T. Rajaiah in the March 18 Station Ghanpur bypoll will be TRS senior leader and MLA T. Harish Rao who has been made coordinator for Station Ghanpur constituency.
In support of ex-minister Kadiam Srihari, who is the bypoll contestant for the TD in the Station Ghanpur seat, the district unit TD has roped in TD district chief and Narsampet MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy (Station Ghanpur mandal), TD Telangana Forum convenor and Palakurthy MLA Errabelli Dayakar Rao (Zafargad), Rajya Sabha MP Gundu Sudha Rani (Lingala Ghanpur), Mulug MLA Ms Seetakka (Dharmasagar) and Dornakal MLA Satyavathi Rathod (Raghunathpally). Both the Congress and BJP are yet to announce their in-charges.
While the Congress named former SC/ST commission member Rajarapu Pratap on Tuesday, the BJP has not done so.
Meanwhile, TRS station Ghanpur contestant and defected Congress MLA Dr T. Rajaiah termed the bypoll as a fight between development and Telangana.
“Both the TD and Congress are contesting the bypoll on the planks of development, but the real agenda is statehood,” said Dr T. Rajaiah who predicted a landslide victory for him.
