Ramachandraiah attends court in protest case

The minister for endowment, Mr C. Ramachandr-aiah, attended court in Rajampet town of Kadapa district in a case related to the abuse of a police official.

The minister for endowment, Mr C. Ramachandr-aiah, attended court in Rajampet town of Kadapa district in a case related to the abuse of a police official.

According to sources, 11 persons died when a building collapsed during road widening works at Mannur in 2006. Telugu Desam activists including the then Rajya Sabha MP, Mr C. Ramachandraiah, st-aged an agitation, protesting the deaths and alleging negligence of officials. A case was registered in the local police station, alleging that Mr Ramacha-ndraiah had abused the then ASP Mr Lakshmikar Reddy during the protest.

Mr Ramachandraiah atte-nded court as part of the he-aring in the case. Magis-trate Mr Sairam adjourned the case to February 8.

Former MLA Pasupuleti Brahmaiah, Para Subba Reddy, Ameer Babu, Hari-prasad, Gulzar Basha, M.V. Ramana, K. Ram-araju, Vi-swanatha Chary, Bandari Balaiah, Dharmishetty Venkataramana, M.L. Nar-ayana, Idimadala Kumar and Vardhiboina Sudhakar Babu also attended court. Heavy police security was deployed at the court.
