ACB at wits’ end in syndicate case

The Anti-Corruption Bu-reau (ACB) officials are at their wits end in finding evidence to get conviction of those arrested during raids on liquor syndicates in Kurnool district.

The Anti-Corruption Bu-reau (ACB) officials are at their wits end in finding evidence to get conviction of those arrested during raids on liquor syndicates in Kurnool district.

The ACB officials had conducted raids on liquor syndicates at Kurnool and Yemmiganur in the district. As there is a heavy competition among liquor traders in Kurnool, the ACB officials didn’t find any incriminating documents there.

Based on raids at Yemmiganur, they had collected some information. The ACB officials had arrested five liquor syndicate organisers and produced them in court.

In the wake of raids at Yemmiganur, liquor traders ensured that records of other syndicates are not available to the ACB officials. The ACB officials also reportedly failed to get all the records at Yemmiganur. Now, the ACB officials have to prove that whether those mentioned in records of liquor syndicates really received the bribes. The ACB officials, who are already reeling under heavy work burden, are finding it difficult to gather more evidence against liquor syndicates.

ACB sources said it would be a Herculean task to get conviction in liquor syndicates case with limited manpower and resources.
