Former Naxalite and social activist K. Venu, who was on an indefinite satyagraha in Laloor area here since February 14, has been shifted to the Thrissur district hospital.
Police assistant commissioner T.K. Thomas shifted Venu to the hospital Wednesday morning, but the social activist said he was continuing his satyagraha in hospital.
Venu is protesting against the failure of the City Corporation to find a lasting solution to the dumping of waste at the Laloor yard.
According to doctors, Venu’s blood pressure was on the higher side while the sugar and sodium levels were very low.
Later in the day, four members of the Laloor Samara Samiti marched to the mayor’s office and were arrested and released on bail.
Meanwhile, a number of organisations spearheading agitations against waste dumping across the state assembled in front of the corporation office and held a day-long dharna.
