Ten-month-old Praveen was run over by a speeding bus after he fell off father Moorthy’s two-wheeler near Anaimedu around 1 pm Wednesday.

He was in the lap of his pillion-riding mother, who too fell but escaped with minor injuries.

Moorthy, 28, of Keerapappambadi near Salem, was riding back home with wife Ramayee and Praveen after visiting a doctor.

He tried to overtake a lorry. At the same time, the bus tried to overtake him but ended up hitting the bike. As a result, Ramayee and Praveen fell on the road and the child was run over. He died instantly.
