The National Investigation Agency has announced a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh for information on the whereabouts of the Keralite absconder in the 2007 Ajmer Sharif Dargah blast case.
According to a notice posted on NIA site, Suresh Nair, whose roots are in Kozhikode, played a key role in the blasts.
NIA sources said Suresh Nair was an active member of the RSS Godhra unit.
He was suspected to be one among the gangs which bought explosives from Madhya Pradesh to Gujarat.
Suresh was born and brought up in Gujarat where his father worked and was an RSS karyavahak there.
The state police’s steps to unearth his Kerala connection and to arrest him have failed to yield any result. Police searched the houses of his relatives in Kozhikode.
According to NIA, Suresh helped the terror module responsible for the blast at different stages of planning and execution.
On October 10, 2007, Suresh and two others took a consignment of explosives and planted the bomb inside the dargah on the direction of the late Sunil Joshi, one of the main accused in the case.
Three people were killed and 30 people were injured in the blast that took place at the Ajmer Dargah in October 2007.
Rajasthan ATS brought out the role of the Hindutva groups in the blast though it was believed that Islamic groups were behind it. NIA took over the case in April 2011.
