The CCS police arrested a 42-year-old woman, wife of a government employee, who sold 7000 sq. yards of land at Banjara Hills to a construction company for `13.5 crore claiming it to be her property.
Police said M. Sujatha and some others sold the disputed property on Road No. 3, Banjara Hills, by forging documents. The land originally belonged to one C. Achayya; His daughter Ch. Laskshmi lodged a complaint with a Nampally court. Following its directions, the police registered a case and arrested Ms Sujatha.
According to CCS inspector V. Pratap Kumar, the land is worth Rs 40 crore but Sujatha sold it to Srinivasa Construction Company for Rs 13.5 crore. The land which Sujatha sold was under dispute in the civil court since the last few years. Sujatha had no original documents, police said. The police registered a case of cheating against Sujatha under Sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery), 471 (using as genuine a forged document).
