Top IT firm Wipro is preparing an e-governance project for GHMC in an effort to use IT applications to improve the civic agency’s operation and service delivery. Wipro will submit its report to GHMC by this month-end, officials said. Once the report is in, the civic body will invite Request For Proposals (RFP) from interested IT giants and ITeS service and solution providers to execute the project. “We selected Wipro as the project management consultant; companies like Deloitte, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Tandon Urban Solutions were also in the race,” GHMC additional commissioner (IT) M. Rajeshwar Rao told this newspaper. “GHMC is revamping the existing applications by vertically integrating all (its) offices, and horizontally integrating with other stakeholders.”
The project envisages integration of all civic services based on IT applications and to make GHMC a paperless organisation. Among facilities being worked out as part of the plan are multiple delivery channels for citizens’ services, a GIS-based city information system covering roads, streets, buildings, taxation, approval process, mobile monitoring of civic activities, multiple delivery channels such as touchscreen kiosks, mobile service delivery centres etc.
