The former minister, Mr P. Shankar Rao, will be filing a petition with the CBI special court at Nampally to assist the CBI prosecution in the Emaar-APIIC township scam case and the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s assets case. The Secunderabad Cantonment MLA, Mr Shankar Rao, is the complainant in both the cases. Based on his complaint, the High Court had ordered a probe into the Emmar scam. Senior counsel, Mr C. Mallesh Rao, said, “We will be filing the petition under Section 302 of the CrPC to assist the prosecution. The petition will be filed after February 14. We want the probe and prosecution to go in the right direction.”

He added, “In all criminal cases, the state is the aggrieved party. The state has to prosecute the accused. However, under Section 302 CrPC, an individual can be permitted to prosecute the accused. In our case, Mr Shankar Rao being the defacto complainant has locus standi and we are going to assist the CBI in the prosecution.” Meanwhile, the Emaar MGF chief, Mr G.V. Vijay Raghavan, was grilled by the CBI for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday.
