Salem to file Portugal SC order

Abu Salem, who is an accused in the fake passport case, will be filing the order of Portugal’s Supreme Court in the CBI special court in the city. The Portugal Supreme Court has recently given a judgement cancelling his extradition. Portugal’s Court of Appeal, Lisbon, had in September 2011 cancelled the extradition as “there has been a breach of the Rule of Specialty in the extradition of Abu Salem”.

The Lisbon court’s order was based on a plea by Salem appealing against the leveling of a few additional charges which were not included in his extradition order issued by Portugal. “We are filing the Portugal court order in the local CBI court on Monday. We are getting it translated,” Abu Salem’s counsel M.A. Azeem told this newspaper. Salem was brought to court on Monday under tight security.
