The Central Bureau of Investigation in its chargesheet in the Emaar scam alleged that businessman Koneru Rajendra Prasad alias Dubai Prasad is instrumental in awarding the project to Emaar Properties PJSC Dubai by the state government.

It can be recalled that the project was awarded during former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's regime in 2001 and Mr Prasad was close to Mr Naidu then. The CBI, which named Rajendra Prasad as accused number 6 in the chargesheet, alleged that he had been acquainted with Emaar Properties chairman Mohamed Ali-Alabbar since many years as he has business interests in the UAE. “Prasad used to liaise between Emaar Properties and AP government. He was a nominated director of Emaar Properties in all three special purpose vehicles, Emaar Hills Township Pvt. Ltd., Boulder Hills Pvt. Ltd. and Cyberabad Convention Centre Pvt. Ltd. He was on their board till 2010 May,” the CBI said.
