IAS officers have decided to legally take on the CBI for its alleged “witch-hunting of bureaucrats” in the name of investigating the Jagan illegal assets case and the OMC mining scam. However, the officials were not in favour of going on mass casual leave or pen down their protest against the CBI investigation.
The bureaucrats made it clear that ministers and politicians should be held responsible for ‘policy decisions’ taken by the government. They reiterated that the entire cabinet has to be held accountable for policy decisions taken by the government pertaining to land allotments or any incentives given to individuals or organisations.
They also decided to give free legal aid for the two IAS officers arrested and lodged in prison. They condemned the CBI’s attitude towards arrested IAS officer Srilakshmi. The AP IAS Officers Association convened an emergency general body meeting on Saturday to discuss the CBI targeting only bureaucrats in connection with the investigations into various high-profile cases. The meeting took serious exception to the CBI holding the bureaucracy solely responsible for government decisions while leaving ministers untouched.
