The SR Nagar police arrested a chain-snatching gang and recovered 90 tolas of gold and seized three bikes from their possession on Saturday.
The accused were identified as Mohammed Faizal, 20, Ghulam Rasool alias Majid, 22, and Mohammed Asmath, 26. All of them are residents of First Lancer in the city.
According to SR Nagar police, crime detective inspector, Mr Gangadhar, the trio was involved in 35 chain-snatching cases under different police stations in both Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerate limits.
They were arrested by police patrolling team when they were moving under suspicious circumstances at Yousufguda. On further interrogation, information regarding the snatched properties came to light.
A total of 90 tolas of gold chains were recovered from their residence and from a receiver at Gulzar House.
“The total amount of the gold chains would be about Rs 27 lakhs. We have also seized three motor bikes, one bajaj pulsar, one Hero Honda Karizma and another Hero Honda Ambition from their possession,” said Mr Gangadhar.
Police booked cases under Sections 354 and 382 of the IPC which makes it difficult for the trio to get bail in the case. All of them were sent to judicial remand, said the police.
