The Telugu Desam has decided to support tribals protesting against bauxite mining in Visakhapatnam agency area and demanded the Centre to cancel mining leases immediately.

The party wrote a letter to the Central Expert Committee, Union ministry of environment and forests, to cancel the mining leases granted to Anrak and Jindal companies.

“We are opposed to bauxite mining against the wishes of tribals in Visakhapatnam. If the government goes ahead with project, there would be serious repercussions,” Mr Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu, TD MLA and TD Mahila chief, Ms Sobha Hymavathi said.
