City techie dies in freak mishap

July 17: A 30-year-old employee of a software company was electrocuted after he came in contact with a flexi board installed in front of an ATM centre located on Street No 1 in Tarnaka here on Sunday.

According to the Osmania University police, the victim, A. Rajasekhar, a native of Station Road at Bhongir in Nalgonda, was returning from a visit to the Mahankali temple in Secunderabad at around 6.30 am on Sunday, and stopped to withdraw money from the ATM. There was waterlogging in front of the ATM and to avoid stepping in the water, Rajasekhar took the support of the flexi board of the ATM centre, which was illuminated by electricity from the ATM centre. He suffered an electric shock and died on the spot. The police has registered a case of accidental death and is investigating.

In another tragic incident in the city, an assistant engineer of Genco committed suicide by jumping into Gandipet Lake because his fiancée reportedly suspected him of having an affair with another woman.
Sridhar Babu, 32, left a suicide note in which he mentioned that he was ending his life so that everyone will be happy and asked the police to inform his fiancée about his death and supplied her address and mobile number. The police has registered a case of suspicious death under Section 174 and is investigating.
