The CBI on Tuesday sought the court’s permission to examine the former mines and geology director V.D. Rajagopal and senior IAS officer, Y. Srilakshmi in the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy disproportionate assets case. The CBI officials filed a memo before the CBI court seeking permission for three CBI inspectors, Mohd Zafar, B. Ramdas and N. Raghavendra Kumar, to examine the duo on the Chanchalaguda Central Prison premises, where they are currently lodged, in connection with a case of illegal mining by the Obulapuram Mining Company.
In the memo, the CBI said that the investigation revealed that documents were processed by V.D. Rajagopal and Y. Srilakshmi, the then secretary, department of industries and commerce. Though the petition did not specify the documents, it is learnt that the investigation agency wants to find the missing links as some of the firms that secured leases, in turn invested in firms owned by Jagan Mohan Reddy. The court posted the case for February 16 for further hearing.
