Justice K.C. Bhanu of the AP High Court on Friday granted custody of the two accused — G.V. Vijay Raghavan and N. Sunil Reddy — in the Emaar scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
While allowing two petitions of the CBI, the judge allowed the CBI to keep Vijay Raghavan for five days in custody and N. Sunil Reddy for three days from Saturday. The judge told the CBI that the accused should be interrogated before the advocates of their choice from 8 am to 6 pm every day.
The judge directed the jail superintendent to hand over custody of the two accused to the CBI officials everyday at 8 am and the investigating officials must hand them over to the prison authorities at 6 pm. Reacting to apprehensions of the accused regarding third degree methods during interrogation in police custody, the judge ordered that they must be subjected to examination by a competent civil assistant surgeon before handing them over to the prison along with health condition certificate. The judge cautioned the CBI of severe action in case it uses third degree methods on the accused.
