The state government issued orders suspending the home principal secretary, Mr B.P. Acharya, who was arrested in Emaar scam.
The government withheld the suspension even after the officer spent more than 48 hours in judicial custody because of the ambiguity over the period the officer spent in hospital.
The government, however, proceeded with the suspension once it was clarified that the time spent in hospital is part of the custody. Sources said the officer’s bail plea getting posted to February 6 also prompted the government to suspend the official.
CBI opposes Acharya bail plea
Emaar MGF earned Rs 342.88 crore by sale of villas, plots and apartments between November 2006 and August 31, 2011, but didn’t pass on the 25 per cent of the revenue to Emaar Hills Township Private Limited (EHTPL) as per the development agreement. This resulted in loss to APIIC, the CBI said on Friday. As per the agreement EHTPL,was entitled to Rs 85.72 crore.
The CBI came out with figures for the first time in its counter opposing bail to senior IAS officer B.P. Acharya. The amount includes Rs 21.36 crore from sale of villas, Rs 73.19 crore from sale of villa plots and Rs 248.33 crore from sale of apartments.
The CBI told court that Rs 102.87 crore was collected from villa plot buyers over and above the documented price of Rs 5,000 per sq yard, but the same wasn’t reflected in EHTPL accounts. It’s not clear if the amount includes the money collected by Stylish Holmes.
