Aswin Chandrasekharan, pursuing his masters degree in software engineering at VIT University, has made his university proud by being selected as the young future energy leader (YFEL) and being one of the two students who represented India at the world future energy summit held at Abu Dhabi.
Aswin told Deccan Chronicle that he had worked in the field of energy for the past seven years and this, coupled with his academic performance, must have prompted the organisers to select him for the prestigious award.
“I have helped seven start ups to launch by writing business plans for them, which is also one of the factor that helped me bag the prestigious honour.
I had the honour of showcasing my talent in front of world leaders, including the first minister of Scotland, China, South Korea and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon”, he said.
G.Viswanathan, chancellor of VIT University, said that the varsity had always motivated young students like Aswin and also others to achieve big in the international arena.
Aswin’s team was also awarded the title of YFEL debate team champions 2012 on winning the debate competition hosted in the YFEL stand during the event. The debate was intense and had students from reputed universities such as MIT (USA) and Aachen University (Germany).
This is not Aswin’s first award. He is a recipient of the global challenge and Motorola engineer of the future award and also was awarded the Bayer Young Environmental Envoy in 2010.
