Nuke plant protesters wish to meet Jaya

“We are prepared for any kind of struggle against KKNPP even if the Tamil Nadu chief minister goes against us,” says anti-KKNPP protest committee member M. Pushparayan.

Expressing his regret over the indifference of chief minister J. Jayalalithaa to their letter requesting an appointment a month ago, Mr Pushparayan said the anti-KKNPP activist would send another letter through the Tirunelveli collector to the chief minister seeking her to meet their expert committee.

“We are to meet Tirunelveli collector, Dr Selvaraj, on January 3 at his office,” said Mr Pushparayan, who hoped that their request to meet the chief minister would be granted as they still have faith in her.

The anti-KKNPP activist, however, did not rule out the possibility of the chief minister going against their protest as neither did she speak about the KKNPP row with the Prime Minister during his visit to the state last week nor included the issue in her party’s general council meeting resolutions on December 30.

“The people will not give up the struggle even if the state government goes against us,” said Mr Pushparayan, who also hoped that the chief minister would not antagonise the people.
