Man from Kerala held for job fraud

A 50-year-old man from Kerala believed to be invovled in a job racket was arrested by the Chennai airport police after he collected Rs 65,000 from a woman from Vellore aspiring to be an air hostess on Tuesday. The arrested person was identified as Udayakumar, a native of Pathanamthitta, Kerala.

Zakir Hussain, the father of the person aspiring to be an airhostess, filed a complaint that they had
contacted one Stephen after he had advertised on the Internet about vacancies in an international airline.

“Stephen initially asked for Rs 1 lakh for ensuring that my daughter gets a job and later settled for Rs 65,000,” said Hussain. “We were to get the appointment order on Tuesday at the Chennai airport, where his agent Udayakumar and a young woman met us in a restaurant.

The woman collected the money and vanished after promising to bring the appointment order. We waited for two hours and handed over Udayakumar to the airport police station,” he said.

The police believe Udayakumar is a major link to the job racket. However, Udayakumar claimed that he was just an agent and Stephen was operating out of Mumbai.

The police believe that several others could have been cheated by the same people.
